The biggest drawback is that they use a 7d fabric, which is about as thin as it gets. You can handle rough objects with them, and you should even be careful not to rub them too hard on trekking pole straps for hours at at time.

We recommend packing them in conjunction with any basic fleece liner for a complete 3-season warmth system. These are great rain mitts to just always have in your pack. But if we knew we were hiking into super rainy weather, we would pack something a bit burlier.
