Construction

The Outdoor Voices MegaFleece is made with a fabric consisting primarily of reclaimed/recycled wool. On body, it’s extra warm, and a quick pinch tells you how thick and chunky the material is. While the outer face is texturally interesting, the interior is more of a brushed flat surface that evokes wool sweaters of yore – simultaneously soft and a bit scratchy. As such, we would recommend wearing this over a long sleeve tee shirt to minimize skin on wool contact.

One potential deviation from their sustainable design is that nothing in the product listing mentions the 24% nylon or 13% polyester being recycled or reclaimed. Why go to all that trouble to reclaim wool but then not bother with using more readily available recycled nylons or polyester?

I tested the men’s MegaFleece Snap Pullover and found the fit to be true to size in terms of length measurements, but boxy and oversized in terms of width and drape. Obviously, that’s intentional and on-trend.

Features

What calls the loudest is the amazing, wonderful, perfectly massive kangaroo pocket on the lower front center. Brands frequently make these too small, but Outdoor Voices got this one 100% correct. Hands, snacks, or objects, this pocket is more than large enough to store them all. What’s more, it even has a bonus, zippered phone storage pocket inside the kangroo pocket.

Turning to the trim, a ribbed hem and ribbed cuffs adorn the MegaFleece. This adds textural interest, dexterity and seals out cold air. 4 metal snaps and a tall collar seal off the cold around your neck, or vent warmth if overheating. The snaps too are right in the sweet spot of not too easy and not too hard to open/close.

Outdoor Voices MegaFleece Review Verdict

Why sit around the campfire when you can wear it? The Outdoor Voices MegaFleece is the coziest fleece we’ve tested thanks to its thick and chunky fabric constructed with 63% recycled wool. While it’s too bulky to store in a pack while hiking, it’s perfect for relaxed outdoor adventured on a chilly afternoon. I finally found my new favorite chill-mode fleece.
